Aldo Leopold mentions a native trout in Tonto creek

An interesting find in the new Gila Trout recovery plan draft is that Aldo Leopold's 1923 notes mentions a NATIVE trout and Eastern USA Brook trout in Tonto Creek, AZ.

I've heard of char in tonto but never seen one and doubt it honestly.

Forgetful,

Leopold's notes say Eastern USA brook trout were stocked in 1920 but as we know Tonto Creek can run very muddy which brook trout do not like.

This is the report that made me question the brooks. I heard a rumor that they got there after a flood at the hatchery or something.

Might be a funny joke though, I've definitely messed with my fair share of people who have asked "whatcha catching"
