My wife dragged me kicking and screaming to this movie under the pretense it was about fly fishing. I hated it. She only wanted to go because of Brad Pitt.

For payback rent the movie Se7en and make her see it.

We're having a big anniversary screening up here at Sundance hosted by Redford himself. I'll be putting up some art there ;)

And that doofus scene in the movie where an angler is doing the double haul casting a country mile in a river where fish can be caught almost at your feet. I know, it was for effect. Most people wouldn't know.

A bunch of years ago, I attended the Sportsman's International Expo in Denver. I could not believe I actually saw one of the fly shops, with a booth there, showing this movie on a small television. If you want to show something at a fly fishing expo, show a video of how to do it, where to go and what to use, like the ones you see at Sportsman's Warehouse. I wouldn't waste my time in a shop like this - they reek with snobishness.

Loved the movie; watch it every year before heading up to Montana.

I thought the movie was great. I never considered it a fly fishing movie but a movie with awesome scenery and the importance of fly fishing to that family.

I love that awesome roll cast.

I love that awesome roll cast.

Both Jerry Seim of Sage and Jason Borger, the "shadow caster" performed casts in the film. The roll cast was performed by Jason Borger.

Jason does the roll cast at 2:20 into the video. You can see that he is casting with the "three point grip," index finger extended along right side of grip in the film frame below.

Gary and Jason both cast with the three point grip much like Lee Wulff's tarpon grip.

Jason Borger has produced a video of the three point grip since it can be confused with the key grip and the finger on top grip.

Jason doubles for Brad Pitt and performs the shadow cast is at 3:18 in the video. The cast sequence is a Galway cast into a Pendulum cast into a Climbing Hook cast into the Forward cast
