Mingus and Whitehorse Lakes

I did a little research on the internet about Whitehorse and Mingus Lakes.

Will someone provide trout fishing information on these two bodies.

On Google Earth, Mingus looks like it is either dry or very off color.

In April check to see if these lakes are stocked.

I have never been to Whitehorse, but I have been to Mingus several times. I go before the gate is opened, which means an easy 1 mile hike down a dirt road to the lake.

Every time I've been, it has been off color (it has like a clay bottom I think). And because it is an easy 1 mile hike, I have always had lots of company. The fishing is decent though, if you can find a spot (there are only a few spots where you have room to back cast). You can always practice roll casting though.

Mingus is a pretty spot, but small and heavily pressured for its size, even before the gate is opened.

Counselor,

Thanks for this information. I had not considered locked gates on any lakes.

Because of my poor lower back situation, I cannot walk long distances on flat surfaces; however, maneuvering and crawling up and down river banks and other uneven surfaces doesn't seem to affect my back much. I think I would wait till the gate opens.

Joe, will check stocking report. Thanks.
