Hey Dan, river is still in winter mode, fairly off color. Looking at eggs, leeches and worms, and consider trying large red annelids as well. It is an easy float in pontoons, nothing really to worry about. Stop by one of the flyshops and they can get you a number for the shuttle. Have a great time. Let me know if you have anymore questions. Paul
Hi, I just read your post about going to Martin SD. Did you live there in the 80s-90s by any chance? My cousins lived there and I used to go visit them. Finneys. Ironically they lived in Sidney before they moved to Martin. I'm from Nebraska myself.

Went fishing at Bartlett last Thursday. I believe you were in the shop when Jacquelyn tied a purple leach pattern for me. Well it worked, but not on Crappies. Was trolling with a 7 wt using ROI deep 7 line, when the Rod bent as if I had snagged something. Not to be. After a long battle of some movement mostly down deep and have my line stripped out into the backing I was able to get a large approx 3 ft flat-head catfish up to the boat. Was not able to bring him in, net too small. At least I saw it before the line broke at the knot. Think I would like another purple leach pattern.
Realized I goofed when we were discussing RIO fly lines. The line I was referring to that RIO only makes in a 7 wt is the RIO Deep 7, an extra fast sinking line which is part of the Lakes series. Some how got this line mixed up with the Clouser Line, which as you pointed out comes in various weights. Good talking with you today - looking forward to getting out on Bartlett tomorrow
