Is there any reason this is all done in one night? How about leaving it open for a week? My guess is that participation would go up a bunch.

Good suggestion...
We just started this a month ago and we are getting a feel for how people seem to like it.
Maybe Mr Smith will decide to open it up for a longer period of time, that is totally up to him. I am happy with the participation so far though.
Very nice flies fellas.
Gila... that may be the best crawdad I've seen.

yeah Gilafisher, that is winning hands down and no wonder, great tie. However, the burdon of having such a good winning pattern is you now have to post the building instructions right? ;)

It's a contest. It's meant to be challenging. I think two hours is plenty of time to tie a fly and take it's picture. I think as it is seen every week on the board more people will remember that it is every Wednesday at 7.

Yeah, I agree. This is fun and instructional in a sense too. The only thing that could make it better, is the voting. The people's choice voting is fine, but maybe we need a fish's voting by seeing which ones catch the fish.

Wow! Thanks for the compliments. I like this being a short time frame in that if it was a longer I would probably put it off and forget about it. I would like it to start a little earlier so I wouldn't miss Dancing with the Stars.

Well, forget what I wrote earlier about taking a fish's choice voting, as Gila's fish porn above says it all.

I usually don't get off the lake until after dark. I'm sure there are a few others who do things Wednesday evenings also. It's not a big deal- just thought it would be nice to get more people participating. I for one- really enjoy seeing the variety of flies. As a newbie-I learn a lot just by looking at all the ways a fly can turn out.
