Sunday, Willow Springs Lake. Official start time is 7:00 am @ the ramp. Big fish award has 2 categories, Largest Bass (sm and lm) and largest trout. Take a digital pic and submit to me at lunch. A panel of 3 will view and decide. If I submit a fish to be judged, I will excuse myself from panel and appoint someone else to fill the 3 person panel. If you do not have a digital make it be known at start so if we hear someone yelling, the closest party with a camera can get to you. I will monitor channel 5.

BBQ. Grills will be fired up at noon. Fly Chef has family matters to attend to and will not be joining us. He will supply me with his famous steaks and rub. I'm down with bringing the steaks and a salad. Can someone bring charcoal and lighter fluid? Also we need paper plates and plastic utensils. I am hoping that Dana joins us and grills corn. At Ashurst, corn cooked by Dana was awesome!

I do need a head count for lunch. If you are on the roster and can't make it, let me know. If you are not on roster and want to attend just pm me.

This is going to be a blast! Our 1st crossover event. Trout and Bass! AZFATBC wants all to enjoy!

I took a few extra days of fishing this week (just got home), so I will most likely not make it this trip...too many things piled up the last few days.

I fished Willow Springs yesterday (Wednesday) from shore in the evening. There were a billion fish rising between the boat ramp and dam. I caught 22 trout between 7 and 11 inches, and 7 smallmouth that were all around 7 or 8 inches. All this happened in about an hour. I used the same fly the whole time, a size 16 Adams. The smallies prefer a little twitch action on the fly, with about 2 seconds of rest in between.

By the way, there were five or six baitchuckers along that shoreline too, all watching me catch fish. It was quite fun.

There will probably be a lot of people there on Sunday. It was quite crowded yesterday, with the addition of two charter buses full of kids.

Nope, just the Adams. Most of the fish were only breaking the surface with their backsides, so they were obviously taking emergers. They didn't mind my bug sitting on top of the water, however.

I'll plan on cooking lunch somewhere near the boat launch just following the tourney around noon thirty.
Hopefully the picnic area there will have a table or two but we'll just play it by ear and see what happens.
I think I'm as excited for the food as I am the fishing. Well, maybe not.
Remember to bring two way radios if anyone has them.
We'll tune to channel 5.
If anyone is there prior to 7:00, just start fishing and we'll meet up on the water.

Make that channel 5. If you don't have a digital camera, just yell or use radio and the closest guy near you will come over. I'll bring the Whaler as the support/safety boat. I suggest you bring a folding chair for lunch gathering. The food is going to be awesome!

I am good to go driving up solo, unless someone else needs a ride, but I have not read or heard of anyone needing a ride. I was just trying to figure out what time I need to get up and to hit the road to be up there and on water by 7am. I think from my place in Chandler, it will take 3 hrs.
