One of these days I am actually going to be available to fish one of these. Seems I always have another fishing trip planned on the weekends of the bass tourneys.

PLEASANT. How about you boaters that commited to Alamo? Dub, Josho, Brian, rdf1212, Dana/Fishunter? Are you all in for Pleasant? If the Stripers cooperate, this will be our best event todate and a great kick off for AZFAT BASS CLUB!

Sounds good to me. Pending a (hopefully) small motor repair this weekend. Those stripers sure can fight, gotta be a lot of fun on a fly rod. I usually catch them from the deep on spinning gear.

So, I would say this would be a good time to use my Rio Deep-7 line, sink rate 7-9 inches/sec?

This from Rory's report at AZGF: The bite at Lake Pleasant for stripers has been one of our mainstays – expect it to not only continue, but maybe even get better with more whites in the mix and possibly some largemouth bass as well. However, the best bite is typically in the afternoon, or even at night. The Agua Fria River flowing into Pleasant is so clear right now it looks like a mountain trout stream.

I'm hoping to make Saturday with my brother inlaw, but he can be iffy. Might have a seat open on the boat. I'll know more towards middle of week if he's in or out. If I'm even going to consider entering the tourney in April I have to get some confindence on this lake!

So what flys are good for LM Bass and stripers on Pleasant? I would guess that There is no top water action at this time with colder water and all, so streamers and DHM's?

Kevin Krai
02-18-2008, 03:48 PM
I have done best with the DHS and DHM in Shad and Silver Holo for the Stripers. Looks like I will be in the shop on Saturday, but still plan to hit it on Sunday if anyone is around...

Please guys belly up to the bar and be counted. Many of you have PM'd me saying "I'm in". I am bringing grill and dogs for Saturday. I need to know how many. Sunday I will bring the leftovers.

Kevin, Bummer you can't make Saturday. Reality check Buddy. You now own a business. Trout bum days are gone! Get a white shirt and tie for your monthly P&L review! In the beginning "there was rama noodle"!

Dang Mike,

You need to find a job that does't interfere so much with fishing....

Tell the boss I said to give you at least Sunday off....I know Bill Dance, he'll listen to me....

So exactly where are we going to start from? I was looking at Google-earth image of lake Pleasant at the Castle creek boat-ramp area and boy lake almost all the way up to parking lot. Us who are doing it in a toon, would we just put in from the parking lot by the boat-ramp and then go north from boat ramp to some of the coves? Are all going to meet up before going out or just get out on water when we get there?

tenpoundlunker
02-20-2008, 05:39 PM
Since I'm out in BFE (Queen Creek) it will take awhile to get out there. I'll be hitting the water around 8AM. I haven't been to this lake in about 10 years so I have no clue on what's what out there anymore.

Launching from Castle Creek (4 lane) @ 8 am both days. Bring radios if you have. I will monitor channel 5. Digital cameras are a great way to record your catch. Stripers may be taken. Great eating! For you sporting types, $5.00/angler buys into the "Big Fish" pot.. Submit photo @ lunch. We will pick a judge and it won't be Kevin or Fshfanatic (Mike). Meet back @ ramp 1:00 for hot dogs and general BS. Good luck to all. Striper fishing should good....

I am in for $5 to the BF pot. Since I am relying on beginners luck, I am going to tie up a few secret weapons tomorrow (I Took Fri off when anticipating going camping at Alamo), I figure I got as good a chance as anyone.

I wonder how the fishing will be. We've been getting alot of ran up here today. The mountains above the lake has been getting more. I'm questionable for Saturday but be there for sure on Sunday.

Dang blast it....

I really, really hate car dealership service departments...

Had the wife's jeep since Tuesday....

Supposed to be done this afternoon....then supposed to be done EARLY Saturday morning...now, maybe Monday...Lying pond scum.

I'll have to miss Sunday at Pleasant. Leaving my lovely and gracious bride without wheels while I go 'galavanting off on a fishing trip' would be closer to suicidal than I would want to get....

I've been tying flies for this for a month now....

Dang it!
