I was just wondering what everyones favorite streamer patterns were when fishing some of the bigger holes or slower water in small streams. I'm inquiring because I have been stocking up my spare fly boxes lately and have tied hundreds of dries and nymphs but am relatively stuck when it comes to streamers. I pretty much just have marabou leeches and clousers in my arsenal right now for smaller streams. Sure I have tons of semi-seals and wooly buggers that I'm sure would work fine but I'm looking for patterns you guys, and gals, use when stream fishing. So what do you all think?

I think your right on wih the semi seals, but muddler minows can do well.

Streamers are VERY productive in streams and very underrated. I bet you AZ people could kill them on streamers since you get to hone your skills in the lakes. Here's my number 1 streamer for rivers by far. http://www.charliesflyboxinc.com/flybox/detail.cfm It was invented by the dude who invented the famed Copper John. Click on the picture for a tutorial on how to tie it. I like rabbit strips instead of squirrel in bigger sizes.

Barr's Slumpbuster! Great fly, especially tied in crawdad colors. A little flash, tinsel, etc, and you have a meat whistle.

I tied some mini streamers tonight. They roughly approximate a steelhead fly called the psycho sculpin and are tied on size 6 steelhead hooks. Simple and drab with touches of flash = fish candy.

I can't recall which one right now, but one of the major magazines has a great little article about small stream streamer fishing. Check it out.

Here is tonight's streamer. It has a flashy tinsel body just like the slump buster, but you can't see it:

Next time, I'm going to add a touch of red underneath.

I've been tying Gallup pattern's lately, and some that he uses but didn't invent.

Double tailed Madonna
Gallups Craw
Stacked Blond
Zoo Couger
A couple other wooly sculpin imitators
