New Mexico Gila Trout

In August, I will return from my annual fishing trip to Colorado. My driving route takes me through Farmington, NM then Gallup then on to Holbrook and home through Payson.

I am considering making a side trip to western NM to attempt to catch a Gila trout but I don't know where to go. Any suggestions? I will do some research on the internet.

Woods Canyon Lake

The boat ramp at Woods Canyon Lake has been closed for construction of the parking area and roads down by the ramp. Because of the regular rain/snow storms we've been having all through the month of May, they've not been able to finish that construction. Thus, the boat ramp is NOT going to be open through the Memorial weekend. Lower Salt River

I see so much information about the lower Salt, I don't know which way is up or down.

Will someone tell me where I can go to wade the river and when to go? I know I can wade at the parking area near the bridge on the Bush highway.
