Sometime last year, I posted a question about how to determine water volume in the Black River and other places. Someone responded by sending me the link for the National Water Information System.
My interest is the Black River and its forks below Big Lake. On the NWIS page, I see two volume locations for the Black. One is Below the Pumping Plant and the other is near Ft. Apache.
This information is not what I need. Is there a way to determine water volume... [Read More]

I found this on the internet. I was interested in the White Mountain Rez. This indicates I can access the rez lakes without worry including carrying a concealed weapon.
In spite of this, has anyone had problems with officials on the rez?
• Navajo Nation: According to HandgunLaw.us, the Navajo Nation makes it illegal to carry a deadly weapon including a gun.
•Tohono O’odham Nation: The Tohono O’odham Nation prohibits... [Read More]

The past several weeks has been fairly busy for me at my tying desk. SSL's in various colors/sizes, Black Zebra Midges, Red Zebra Midges, Poppers, Bees, Mini-Hoppers, Cicada's, and now Frogs, have kept me somewhat busy.
My next pattern will be the infamous Green Weenie. I see sizes 12, 14 and 16 are fairly common, but was wondering what size have you found best for both stillwater and creeks? I'll also be tying them up in not only chartreuse, but hot pink, lime and possibly... [Read More]

Can't believe I haven't been on for 18 months? Maybe I can....
We went down to Costa de Cocos in Xcalak, QR, MEX for Bonefish. Saw a lot of Permit but was not lucky enough to catch one.
Made a video....that's been awhile too. Thought I would share.

Do you feel at times like I do? |

I've been at this sport for about nine years now and still learning, still get stuck in the groove of not trying new things like sink tip leaders or trying different size larger flys etc. But yet I enjoy myself even though I could catch more fish if I just step out of my comfort zone.
I do occasionally try spin rod conventional gear but I feel I loose my edge or learning curve with fly fishing when I do and wish I'd taken the long rod instead. There's something about that back cast,... [Read More]
