Is Fossil Creek Open?
Jan 17, 2019 - 8:01 AM - by BunsbertMontcroffEsq
Does anyone know if Fossil Creek is open during the government shutdown? I know that this is the "no reservations needed" season, and also the season when one can catch and release fish for chub. With the government shutdown, wasn't sure if the creek was open or if the gate from 260 onto Fossil Creek Road was even open. Jan 10, 2019 - 9:20 AM - by ejcrist
Anyone use those fly line clips made by Rio or similar clips made by others that you tie on the end of your tippet so you can simply clip flies onto rather than tying them on? I also worry it might affect a fly's action in the water. Sometimes I like to use a Duncan Loop which I think gives a fly an excellent natural... [Read More]

Hellgrammites in AZ
Jan 07, 2019 - 7:05 AM - by ejcrist
Anyone successfully used a Hellgrammite pattern anywhere in AZ? The reason I'm asking is because I read they're found from the midwest to the east coast, and along the Pacific coast, but rare in the Rocky Mountains and Great Basin states. That's what it said in the book Western Hatches by Hafele and Hughs anyway. I don't know if "rare" means non-existent in AZ or not, and if they are found here at all, what areas have them. I'm in the process of tying a couple of Smallmouth patterns... [Read More]
