I cheated on my Tenkara rods today; I busted out the 3wt. I've only used it a couple times, so I figured I should get some time with it. I've fished with a fly rod and reel a handful of times, so I am a little clumsy with it. Spooked a couple really nice fish while I was dealing with all thumbs. The stream is somewhat technical so I'm not too hard on myself for trying something a little unfamiliar to me.

I did accidentally send a 4 incher about 15ft downstream when he hit my fly... [Read More]

Best Fly Lines
Aug 18, 2016 - 10:58 PM - by PaysonLazerLiner
I just had the good fortune to come into some extra cash and want to re-line several of my set ups. I haven't bought any "quality" lines for several years, instead opting to buy cheaper lines. Of course I've saved some money but they clearly don't perform like some more expensive lines I've had in the past. Rods that I want to re-line are 7.5 4wt., a 9' 4wt., 9 ft. 5wt and a 12.5' 5wt. All would be considered fast action rods. The 12.5' 5wt. should probably be a spey line. I watched a... [Read More]

Closer and Closer

The time to move to Gilbert and enjoy some Rim fly fishing is getting closer. Last week, I made my second trailer trip to Gilbert to drop off some household goods. The drive on the Beeline Highway is nothing short of spectacular.

After driving through Heber, I saw a man, with a spinning rod and tackle box in hand, walk from the highway into the trees so I assumed fishing was close by. A short distance later, I saw the sign to Woods Canyon Lake. The lake must be near the... [Read More]

Rod Tubes
Aug 27, 2016 - 9:34 AM - by MeLikeFlyFish-FlyFishGood
I know I'm not the first to make a tube with hardware store parts but I am still fairly pleased with how these turned out...

In addition to two 9 wts. I'm taking a spinning rod to Alaska as most of the crew thinks that over a week it's fun to mix it up and sometimes spinning "is just the ticket". Well, good thing I double checked how my rods would fit my 56" double-tube rod carrier as the first guide on a 8'6" steelhead spinning rod is 2-1/4" and didn't... [Read More]

Help and advice to bluegill island
Aug 20, 2016 - 9:37 AM - by spacefrogg5
Does anyone know how to get to bluegill island? Where to park on California side? Can I swim across? Can I use an inflatable boat? Or do I need to rent one and where.

Wanting to go there I heard about legendary bluegills.

Any info and advice would be great thanks.
